Nerses Aposhian and his wife, Kathryn, chose La Cañada Flintridge as the ideal place to raise their young family, drawn by the city's safe neighborhoods, excellent schools, and exceptional quality of life. As a father and homeowner, Nerses is deeply invested in the well-being and future of the community. He currently serves as a Planning Commissioner, where he brings a practical, hands-on approach to addressing city issues and opportunities. Professionally, Nerses is Vice President of Acquisitions at IDS Real Estate Group, where he manages complex investment and development projects. He is committed to preserving what makes La Cañada Flintridge special for all families.

About Nerses
A planning commissioner, commercial real estate investment and development professional, educator, father, homeowner, and community advocate committed to preserving what makes La Cañada Flintridge special.
Raised in nearby Glendale, Nerses grew up visiting La Cañada Flintridge with his family and has fond memories of spending time at local spots like Los Gringos Locos, Georgee's Pizza, See's Candies, and Sport Chalet. In a short time, he has seen firsthand where La Cañada Flintridge excels and where it needs to refocus on its fundamentals. He believes in leading with common sense, clear priorities, and respect for the community's character, so the city remains a place where families want to live, work, and raise their children.
Today, Nerses serves as a Planning Commissioner, bringing a hands-on, practical perspective to the challenges and opportunities facing the city. In a short time, he has seen firsthand where La Cañada Flintridge excels and where it needs to refocus on its fundamentals. He believes in leading with common sense, clear priorities, and respect for the community's character, so the city remains a place where families want to live, work, and raise their children.

Professionally, Nerses is Vice President of Acquisitions at IDS Real Estate Group, where he oversees the sourcing and evaluation of investment and development opportunities across Southern California. His role requires working through complex land-use issues, partnering with institutional capital, managing risk, and making long-term decisions with real financial consequences. This experience has shaped his ability to analyze issues carefully, balance competing interests, and focus on outcomes that serve the broader community.
Nerses is also deeply committed to education and community service. A graduate of Merdinian School, he now serves as Chair of the Board of Directors and has been a board member for more than seven years. During this time, the school has nearly doubled enrollment, improved teacher compensation, and invested in facilities and leadership, strengthening its mission of faith, community, and excellence.
He earned a degree in Political Science and Communication from the University of Southern California and attended Loyola Law School, giving him a strong foundation in governance, policy, and effective communication. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing basketball and golf, and cheering on the Dodgers, Lakers, and Patriots.
He believes in rolling up his sleeves, addressing difficult issues directly, and making decisions grounded in facts, fairness, and listening to residents. As a City Councilmember, he will focus on accountability, preserving what makes La Cañada Flintridge special, and ensuring the city moves forward in a thoughtful, responsible way.
